Who we are
The Nursery Register (thenurseryregister.co.uk) is run by Brain Candy Studio. We are independent and not connected to Ofsted.
Nursery information
Nursery listings use Ofsted's published data on registered childcare providers, used under the Open Government Licence. This is information about registered settings, not about children or families. Any nursery can ask us to correct or remove its listing, free, using the links on its listing.
What you send us
When you use a form we collect what you enter: your name, email, and optionally your phone number, role, postcode and message.
- Nursery claims, corrections, removals and interest: used to contact you about the listing and set up your page. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests, and your agreement when you tick the box.
- Parent enquiries, show-round bookings and welcome pack requests: passed only to the nursery you chose, so it can reply. If the nursery hasn't joined The Nursery Register yet, we contact the nursery for you and pass on your request, and we tell you when it replies. We never sell parents' details or use them for anyone else's marketing.
Where it's kept
Form submissions are stored securely with our database provider (Supabase, UK region). The website is hosted by Cloudflare. Map views are provided by OpenStreetMap and postcode searches by postcodes.io; your postcode is sent to postcodes.io to work out distances and is not stored by us.
How long
We keep enquiries and requests for up to 24 months, then delete them, unless you become a customer, when our customer terms apply.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your information, or object to us using it. Use the form on our For nurseries section, or the contact details we'll publish here shortly. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
